The Turkish Initiative was created to strengthen interest in clinical and basic science research in Turkiye by offering the opportunity to learn and practise research skills.
The objective is to bridge the gap between the laboratory and the clinic, and to train future investigators who will become leaders for international collaboration in medical clinical research and medical education.
In cooperation with the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research course from the Department of Continuing Education at Harvard Medical School, a small number of applicants from Turkiye are invited to take part in the program. Through partnerships with research laboratories, candidates may also be interviewed by laboratories at Harvard Medical School affiliated hospitals for a one year training period.
Awardees take part in the six month course in clinical research methodology, and they also become part of the Turkish Initiative organisational team and share their work with health care professionals from different parts of the globe. They work on research projects and may become joint authors in future publications when their work is published.
